Gold Route 7 Days
The first part of the trip will be crossing the Altiplano highland at a level of 3,800m above sea level and then heading over the Andean Mountain Pass to descend into the warm Yungas valleys, where is located the village of Sorata. Here begins the old gold digger treck vía Consata, Santa Rosa and Mapiri on dirt dusty or muddy road, depending on the year's season, riding through subtropical and tropical zones until the true gold mines area at Guanay. Between Guanay and Caranavi there are lots of fruit and coffee plantations. Finally on the last day our tour climbs along the famous 'Death Road' to the High Mountain Pass of La Cumbre at cold 4,680m above sea level before descending to the City of La Paz.

This tour includes visits to: Sorata, Consata, Guanay, Caranavi, Coroico, and the famous Death Road. Both Sorata, as several cities in the province Larecaja, are considered the richest gold-bearing structures in the world. The way gold was traced and moved from pre-Columbian times and that activity is stimulated from the colonial period who lived this region of the continent. Wranglers and trails dedicated to gold miners transited the route Sorata - Consata - Mapiri from deposits Tipuani, Guanay and others.
Level: HARD – ONLY FOR EXPERIENCED RIDERS. Off-road sectors include gravel, hard pack, dust, and mud depending on season. Guided tour with guide on his own motorbike.

Detailed Itinerary – 7 Days of Pure Adventure
We started driving on paved roads towards the highest lake in the world, Titicaca, crossing the Strait of Tiquina by boat to Copacabana.
From Copacabana, we take boats to the islands of the Moon and Sun, a half-day excursion. In the afternoon, we return to Copacabana for lunch. Afterward, the afternoon is free; dinner is not included.
We took the road back to Huarina, then crossed the Andes mountain range. Then we descended to Sorata, which is at an altitude of 2,700 meters. CORDILLERA REAL DE LOS ANDES (Royal Andean Range) having great views, skirting the Lake Titikaka, until we reach the village of Sorata (2,700 mts). Arrive at the hotel.
Leaving from Sorata we will go to Consata through a quite difficult road, because of the curves, cliffs etc. It's a paradise because of the scenic views unique and unforgettable. Until Puente Yungas the landscape is Andean, and then we go into the sub-tropical vegetation. Arriving to Consata village. Basic lodging.
From Consata we start the challenge with some rivers to cross and a mud or dust road depending on the weather. All of these villages were centers of gold exploitation, now they continue receiving few quantities of the precious metal that comes from the surrounding mines. Leaving Mapiri we can appreciate the real Amazon jungle landscape, until reaching Guanay. Staying in basic lodging.
Leaving Guanay, skirting the river Coroico, we will arrive to Caranavi, observing the fruit and coffee plantations. After we take a rest and lunch then we continue forward to Coroico and our hotel there.
According to the "South American Handbook", this is the most scenic route in South America at the same time being the World's most dangerous road, the so called 'Death Road', because you drive from 1,100 m. above sea level at Coroico/Yolosa, up to the 4,680 m of the Yungas Mountain Pass at La Cumbre, in less than 3 hrs (90 km). We arrive with the bikes at our place at Mallasa village late afternoon. Transport to your hotel. In the evening we join for farewell dinner and interchange our tour impressions. (End of the tour) We leave check out from hotel and transport to airport according to your individual schedule in your own hands.
