Lake Maracaibo has a larger surface area, though some consider it to be a large brackish bay due to its direct connection with the sea. It is often called the highest navigable lake in the world, with a surface elevation of 3,812 metres (12,507 ft). Although this refers to navigation by large boats, it is generally considered to mean commercial craft.

Tour Plan – 3 Days
A taxi will collect you from your hotel at 8.30 and take you to our office in Mallasa. From here we take the bikes and head off across the Altiplano. At Tiquina we put the bikes on a ferry barge to cross the straits. From here it's a beautiful twisty road with great views over the lake. Arriving in Copacabana late afternoon so you have time to chill or explore the town. Our hotel has views over the lake.
Early breakfast as we have to catch the 8.30 a.m. boat to the Isla del Sol. The ride takes about 1 ½ hrs to get to the island. This is a very sacred place. We will hike up the hill to see the ancient Inca Temple. A breathtaking spot. Here you can feel the energy of the lake (the female energy centre of the world). At 1.00 p.m. we catch the return boat to Copacabana. The afternoon is free. Dinner is not included on this day.
