Illimani (6439m) is both the highest and the most southern peak in the Cordillera Real. Visible from most of La Paz, Illimani is an imposing sight and perhaps the most important landmark in the city. According to local legend it is the Queen or Mother of the mountain range. Illimani has five peaks in total; three of them over 6,000m. It is a fairly demanding climb and is a true classic. It's well worth the effort for the views of La Paz and the Cordillera Real, and for the chance to summit Bolivia's second highest peak.

According to local legend it is the Queen or Mother of the mountain range. Illimani has five peaks in total; three of them over 6,000m. It is a fairly demanding climb and is a true classic. It's well worth the effort for the views of La Paz. We take a short trip on motorbikes to the base camp area, which is at 4300 meters altitude, driving over rough roads, rocks, rivers, and mud. It's a beautiful experience with views towards the Valle del Sol and the snow-capped Illimani mountain right in front of us.

TYPE ROUTE: gravel hard pack and off road. We will ride towards the imposing Illimani Mountain, enjoying spectacular views of the Cordillera Real and the Altiplano. The tour takes you through challenging terrains with breathtaking landscapes. You will have the opportunity to appreciate and admir Bolivia's second highest peak (6439m) and take unforgettable photographs. The ride offers a mix of gravel and off-road sections suitable for experienced riders. Return to La Paz in the afternoon.
